Fan shows sneak peek of seats in Hill 16 as NFL comes to town

One eagle-eyed fan showed a sneak peek of Hill 16, with the famous standing section now covered in seats, as the NFL is coming to town. American Football will take over next week when the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings come to Dublin for the historic first NFL regular season game on Irish soil. The game is understandably sold out, and GAA HQ is set to be transformed for the day. As part of this, Hill 16 will be seated. TikTok user @Patrick_stm went down to Jones Road to catch a glimpse of the transformed stand and shared a video. It will be the first time that the stadium has seated Hill 16 since the ground was used by the IRFU and FAI back in the late 2000s when the Aviva Stadium is being built. Some 75,000 or so are expected to pack into GAA HQ for the game, while Dublin is set for a takeover with a huge influx of foreign fans visiting for the week. The game takes place on September 28, and stadium rules will be changed to allow alcohol into the stadium while there will be plenty of thrills in and around the city for the game. Myles Smith will perform a half-time show while Cork artist Lyra will sing Amhrán na bhFiann. Dublin City has already seen a Steelers Pop-up shop take root on Clarendon Street, and it will stay there for the entire 2025 season. Meanwhile, Merrion Square will host a Steelers Tailgate from Friday through Sunday.
