Driver, 17, killed after his Audi A3 overturns outside a petrol station, but his passenger escapes serious injury

A teenager has died after his car overturned at a petrol station in front of horrified onlookers.The incident happened at Applegreen petrol station in Uckfield, East Sussex, at approximately 5pm on Friday. Emergency services raced to the scene but were unable to revive the driver despite performing CPR. The 17-year-old, who was driving a grey Audi A3, was declared dead at the scene, Sussex Police said.  The front-seat passenger, an 18-year-old from Lewes, East Sussex, was able to exit the vehicle uninjured.  Investigations are ongoing and police are seeking eyewitnesses or dashcam footage to try to piece together the exact sequence of events.Tributes flooded in on Facebook to the deceased driver, with users mourning the teenager's death.Val Baker said: 'That's so tragically sad. Maybe a new driver as so young? Rest in peace.' A third user, Sara Scott, said: 'I cannot imagine what this poor family must be going through. 'This is so devastating. I'm so sorry for your loss.' Detective Sergeant Rosie Newman, of the Sussex Police Serious Collision Investigations Unit, said: 'Our enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of this tragic incident are ongoing. No other vehicles were involved.'Our thoughts remain with the victim's loved ones at this extremely difficult time.'In the meantime, we're asking anyone who saw what happened or captured anything on dash cam to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Chineham.'
