The Scottish Government has been in court today defending its policy on the placement of transgender prisoners, which allows some to be held in women’s prisons. The campaign group For Women Scotland is challenging the policy, arguing for a complete ban. Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar has now said he would introduce such a ban if he becomes First Minister after May’s elections.
