Numero Group Lines Up 40th Anniversary Reissue of Gigi Masin’s ‘Wind’

The new release includes five previously unheard bonus tracks from the same recording sessions that went into the original album

Numero Group is reissuing Gigi Masin’s 1986 ambient music classic Wind to mark its 40th anniversary.

The new release will come in both black 180g and colour vinyl editions, featuring a faithful reproduction of the original cover and a two-sided insert that includes a hand-written note. There will also be a digital release, which will additionally take in five bonus tracks of previously unheard material from the original recording sessions that went into Wind.

Masin pressed Wind privately and only released it at a series of small concerts in 1986 as he made a name for himself in Italy’s underground electronic and ambient music scenes. It gained cult status after being discovered by DJs and diggers many years later.

Some of the album’s tracks, and other work by Masin, featured on the 2014 compilation Talk To The Sea, which was released by Music From Memory. The artist also reissued Wind the following year on his own label The Bear On The Moon. This latest release of the record marks the most complete reissue of it yet, however.

Listen to one of the five bonus tracks from the reissue, ‘Silver Wheel’, below.

Numero Group will release Wind on 30 October 2026.
