Erykah Badu and The Alchemist have shared details of their much-anticipated collaborative album.
Spanning 17 tracks, the LP, which is currently untitled, is due for digital release later this month. The co-produced album was recorded over 18 months in Dallas and Los Angeles, and material from it was road-tested by the two artists at a series of intimate, phone-free shows through 2024 and 2025, shortly after they started work on the record.
Badu and The Alchemist previously released the single ‘Next To You’ in 2024. That track doesn’t appear to feature on the new album, though the full tracklist details are still under wraps.
The new LP marks Badu’s first full project in 11 years, and her first studio album since 2010. The Alchemist, meanwhile, has spent recent years producing music for some of hip hop’s biggest names, including Armand Hammer, MIKE, Earl Sweatshirt, Freddie Gibbs, Roc Marciano, Boldy James and ScHoolboy Q, among others.
