Louis Page transfer stance made clear as Russell Martin sends message to Man United
Russell Martin has made Leicester City's stance on Louis Page clear amid transfer interest from Manchester United. The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League giants this week.United are reportedly leading the race for Page, with Arsenal and Aston Villa also interested. The academy graduate has been part of the Foxes first-team since last year and is set to play a key role in the club's League One season.However, speculation over his future has sparked concern over whether he could follow Jeremy Monga out of the club this summer. Asked about the interest in the teenager on Sky Sports News, he said: “He's in the squad. Louis’s a really fantastic young player."I obviously know their director of football [Jason Wilcox] at Manchester United very well after spending some time with him at Southampton. We haven't actually spoke on Louis because he probably knows what I'd say to him and tell him to go away!"It's the same situation as Harry [Souttar], until something comes in that is really brilliant for the club and player and everyone is happy, then Louis stays and he's in the squad."Page is one of several academy graduates currently part of City's first-team squad, with Sammy Braybrooke, Will Alves and Jayden Joseph all starting the Carabao Cup win over Northampton Town last week. Martin has handed opportunities to several youngsters throughout pre-season.And the Foxes boss believes there is now a greater opportunity than ever for the youngsters to establish themselves in the first team. It was a big reason for me to come here and for the club to want to work with me, to help the young guys to take the opportunity."Being a young player at a Premier League club is difficult, this club has been there for a while and then the Championship trying to get to the Premier League, it's difficult. So if they can't get an opportunity now in League One, to play and really establish themselves, they never will.
