The Last Princesses of Punjab

Today marks 150 years since the birth of Sophia Duleep Singh – daughter of the last ruler of the Sikh Empire, and goddaughter of Queen Victoria.

Born in Britain after her father was deposed and stripped of his title, Sophia and her sisters Bamba and Catherine devoted their life to activism, challenging the very authority of the circles in which they were born.

A new exhibition at Kensington Palace, The Last Princesses of Punjab, tells their story.
