Palworld is heading to mobile, but rather than simply squeezing Pocketpair’s survival game onto a smaller screen, Garena is turning it into a full-scale MMORPG, because, why not?
Palworld Online is an officially licensed multiplayer survival adventure being developed and published by Garena, the company behind Free Fire. It is currently scheduled to launch worldwide at some point in 2026, although a more precise release date has not yet been announced.
The mobile game will retain the creature collecting, survival, crafting, and base-building systems that helped make the original Palworld such a success, but place them inside a seamless shared open world filled with other players.
“Palworld is a widely recognized IP, and we see an opportunity to bring the essence of the PC title to mobile in a way that encourages players to connect and venture together,” Garena president Terry Zhao said.
“Working closely with Pocketpair, we are focused on preserving the depth, immersion, and freedom that define Palworld, while thoughtfully optimising the experience for mobile play.”
Palworld Online turns Palworld into a shared worldPlayers will once again capture, raise, and travel alongside the creatures known as Pals, while exploring interconnected regions filled with hidden treasures, challenges, and pieces of the game’s story.
Palworld Online will feature an original narrative setting, including new lore and side stories created specifically for the mobile game. It is not simply a direct recreation of the original Palworld campaign.
The biggest change is its focus on playing alongside other people. Players will be able to meet in the open world, form groups, construct shared settlements, and take part in both cooperative and competitive activities.
These include challenging PvE encounters, open-world boss battles, Pal hunts, and PvP matches. Players looking for something less frantic will also be able to visit one another’s bases or work together on expanding their settlements.
Bases will function as shared social and crafting hubs, with players able to construct buildings, strengthen their defences, and assign Pals to automate production or protect the settlement.
It sounds broadly similar to the systems found in the original game, although the persistent multiplayer world should make building a home feel like more of a communal project.
Garena says it is being built specifically for phonesGarena says Palworld Online is being developed specifically with mobile devices in mind rather than being treated as a straightforward port.
The game will feature a touch-friendly interface and optional one-tap controls intended to simplify tasks such as construction, base relocation, planning, and assigning Pals to jobs.
Garena also says it is working to retain the depth and flexibility of the PC game while supporting a broad range of phone specifications. Exactly how demanding the final game will be, and whether it will appear on both Android and iOS at launch, has not yet been confirmed.
“Garena has extensive experience in global publishing, localisation, and live operations for mobile games,” Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe said.
“We are pleased to work with Garena on the licensed development of Palworld Online and look forward to seeing a new Palworld experience brought to players worldwide.”
Palworld Online is due to launch in 2026, with further details about its release date and availability expected to be revealed later.
