Riot Games has published its second State of the Game update for Riftbound, revealing the release date for Set 5: Radiance alongside a full look at the game’s 2027 set line-up, including two brand new sets. It is the most comprehensive forward-looking announcement the TCG has made since its launch, and there is a lot to unpack.

The set contains 180 cards, including 66 Showcase cards, and carries the tagline “Own the Stage. The World is Watching.” It comes with Vendetta set only just launching as of July 31st, the Friday before this news dropped.
The confirmed new Legends for Radiance are:
Seraphine Ziggs Jarvan IV Ekko Evelynn Four more still to be revealedIn terms of detail, we got Ekko confirmed as a legend. His card has an Empowered effect that lets you play a unit for two energy and one power cheaper, though it is guaranteed to die at the end of the turn. Maybe something for the Zero Drive funnel. He is also red and blue, which is very interesting indeed.
The set will also introduce a new Ultimate Rare card, though Riot is not showing it yet. Products include Booster Packs and Displays, a Showdown Deck featuring Seraphine vs Evelynn, a Vault Bundle and Pre-Rift kits.
Radiance will anchor the Regional Championships starting in November and will feature as part of Convergence Fest in December.
Before we get to 2027, there are also two other notable 2026 products confirmed. The Secret Garden Gift Box, featuring alternate art cards from Set 3 Unleashed including Lillia, Ivern and Ultrasoft Poro, is available at select events including RQ Barcelona, RQ Singapore, PAX West and RQ Los Angeles. It will also come to more events, having only been available at Gen Con just gone.
The Gift of the Rift Bundle, a first anniversary product containing 16 booster packs spanning all five sets alongside foil runes, an alternate art Akali promo and 100 sleeves, releases on December 4th via local game stores and mass retailers. Probably a nice one for collectors to grab.
Proving Grounds 2nd Edition: February 19th, 2027

The updated Proving Grounds boxed product arrives on February 19th, 2027, following the launch of Set 6 Legacy. The second edition features four new Champion decks built around:

Importantly, Riot has confirmed that the second edition will contain no cards unavailable in booster packs, keeping it accessible as an entry point product. A lesson learned from the original Proving Grounds limited print, with Flash and other legends later added as promos in Spiritforged and Unleashed to help mitigate those problems.
Contents include four Champion decks, four oversized Battlefields, four paper playmats, four Chibi score trackers and a rulebook, priced at $40. Available in English, Chinese, French and Korean.

Riot also revealed the full set schedule, with general ideas of what each set will have around it. At least the first two in detail at any rate.

It is Riftbound’s first draft-focused set, spanning the regions of Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover and Zaun, Freljord and Bilgewater. It also introduces a League Classic crossover, with cards featuring artwork inspired by the recently launched classic mode.
Starting with Legacy, booster packs will replace one Common card slot with a dedicated Legend or Battlefield slot at roughly a 50/50 frequency, meaning six Commons per pack instead of seven going forward. Card templating is also being updated, with a new grey backing to identify targets in rules text and an arrow symbol to clarify triggered ability conditions.
Set 7, The Reckoning, arrives April 30th, 2027 and leans into League of Legends’ biggest and most monstrous champions. Aurelion Sol, Cho’Gath, Shyvana, Vayne and Zilean are confirmed, with four more to be revealed. Set 8 takes players to Bandle City in Q3 2027, with whimsical Yordle-themed content and concept art already shared. Set 9 rounds out the year in Q4 2027, with almost no details revealed beyond a teaser image. They did tease the phrase Isles, with a concept art of Thresh. So, maybe they are hinting at something.
