Ireland’s streaming habit exposed: Nearly 45 days a year spent watching TV
Irish couch potatoes are spending around a month and a half each year watching streaming services, new research shows.
As well as all that time, they spend an estimated €1.95billion on subscriptions to them annually.
The average Irish streamer watches almost three hours (two hours and 58 minutes) of streamed entertainment a day, up from two hours and 22 minutes last year.

Over a year, that adds up to 44-and-a-half days of watching streamed video content.
The astonishing figures were revealed in new research from Pure Telecom’s Connected Lives 2026 study.
It also found that two-thirds of adults in Ireland currently pay for at least one streaming service, slightly down from 68% last year.
Among those who do subscribe, the average monthly spend is up more than €5 from €36.87 last year to €41.93 now.
Some 70% of subscribers say they have cancelled at least one streaming service in the past 12 months.
The most common reason for cancelling was higher charges at 30%.
