Michael Stipe &T Brandi Carlile Cover Elvis Presley, Josh Homme Covers Tom Petty At Gansett Games

The Gansett Games is an annual field day in Amagansett, NY hosted by billionaire crypto investor Mike Novogratz. The event was shouted out in T-shirt form on an episode of Billions back in 2022. It seems like a premier rich-people gathering, and Novogratz rounded up a lot of rock stars for this year's closing ceremony on June 27.

Michael Stipe and Brandi Carlile, for instance, were on hand to cover Elvis Presley's "Suspicious Minds." They were backed by a house band featuring the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and super-producer Andrew Watt, who performed with Stipe on Kimmel a few weeks prior. Josh Homme shredded on Tom Petty's "Running Down A Dream," Charlotte Lawrence covered Blondie's "Heart Of Glass," and Smith's former bandmate Josh Klinghoffer performed too.

Smith and Watt regularly do gigs with surprise guests at Amagansett's Stephen Talkhouse. There's another this Sunday; who knows who might show up. Watch some footage from the Gansett Games below.
