After Alkaline Trio announced they were having to cancel their UK tour, including a headline slot at 2000tress Festival, a British icon has stepped up to the plate to replace them.
The announced from Trio came on Friday, the day they were set to play in Birmingham, they they would have to cancel all their upcoming shows due to medical issues concerning Matt Skiba.
Their statement looked a little like this:
“We are immensely sorry but we must cancel our dates in England, including tonight’s show in Birmingham, due to medical issues Matt has ben suffering from that have worsened. He’s gonna be okay but needs to be treated stateside as soon as possible.
We will be back healthier and stronger.
Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”
It appears that 2000trees found out at pretty much the same time as everyone else, so had to jump into action immediately to find a replacement. And in Don Broco, they have found a belter. The band previously headlined the festival back in 2024, so know how to put on a show, and are fresh off supporting Biffy Clyro at their massive show at Finsbury Park this weekend. So, it’s worked out pretty perfectly.
2000trees had this to say as they announced the news:
“It’s been a whirlwind of a day but we’re buzzing to have these guys return to the Main Stage next week. This band are total heroes for stepping in at the 11th hour to help us out (putting the DON in DON BROCO), and we know they’re gonna belt it into the stratosphere…… two years ago they put on one of the biggest headline sets Upcote has ever seen, and now they’re gonna one up it. This will be one helluva show.
Now please excuse us while we go and have a lay down and a stiff drink – we found out about Alkaline Trio literally a few hours ago, and we pulled out all the stops to sort out your Thursday headliner as soon as possible, from the middle of a field no less.
