RTE confirm big change to GAA coverage during World Cup

The move is unlikely to please GAA fanatics.RTE has confirmed that it's GAA coverage will be getting a shake up for the next few weeks due to the start of the FIFA World Cup in North America. For the next three weeks, the Saturday Game highlights show will be moving to the RTE Player in order to accommodate matches taking place in the world's biggest soccer tournament.Qatar v Switzerland will be kicking off at 8pm on RTE 2 this Saturday night, before five-time champions Brazil get their tournament underway against Morocco at 11pm.This means that the highlights show will not be shown on free-to-air TV. Instead, GAA fans will have to stream the show online instead. With the All-Ireland football and hurling championships really starting to heat up, RTE's schedule change has cone at a really inopportune time for fans. For example, this Saturday, there is a glut of GAA action, with four football games being shown on GAA+ across the All-Ireland series and Tailteann Cup quarter-finals.The move is unlikely to go down well with fans who have already bristled at the notion of streaming games on GAA+, and while the RTE Player is free, expect plenty of resistance to the change in the next few weeks.Saturday GAA gamesAll-Ireland SFC Round 2ADonegal v Cork, MacCumhaill Park, 3pmAll-Ireland SFC Round 2BMonaghan v Roscommon, St Tiernach's Park, 4.30pm - GAA+Kildare v Kerry, Cedral St Conleth's Park, 5.30pmDerry v Meath, Find Insurance Celtic Park, 7pm - GAA+Tailteann Cup quarter-finalsOffaly v Wexford, Glenisk O'Connor Park, 1pm - GAA+Antrim v Wicklow, Corrigan Park, 2pmLaois v Down, Laois Hire O'Moore Park, 4pm - GAA+Fermanagh v Sligo, Brewster Park, 5pmClick here to sign up to our sport newsletter, bringing you the top stories and biggest headlines from Ireland and beyond
