Tragedy as woman, 20s, dies in morning car crash, Gardaí appealing for witnesses
A young woman has tragically lost her life following a road traffic collision this morning.The single-vehicle collision occurred in Cork on the N73 Mallow-Dublin Road at Kildorrery at around 7:25am on Sunday morning. Gardai have launched an investigation into into the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.The woman's body has been removed to the local mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The Coroner has been notified.A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N73 Mallow-Dublin Road at Kildorrery, Co Cork this morning, Sunday 7th June 2026. The single-vehicle collision occurred at around 7:25am.""The driver and lone occupant of the car, a woman in her 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her body has been removed to the local mortuary where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The Coroner has been notified.""The N73 is currently closed between Kildorrery Village and the R522 for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
