Max Verstappen disaster as shock issue triggers immediate Monaco retirement
Max Verstappen has retired from the Monaco Grand Prix after only one lap due to a mysterious issue at the start of the race.
The Red Bull driver slumped to the rear of the field after a dreadful launch, with his RB22 steering wheel appearing to be turned off as he awaited lights out.
The four-time F1 drivers' champion eventually got his car going, but pulled into the pits at the end of the first lap.
"Yep, nice. Completely, **** guys, what the **** man," Verstappen said over team radio when the problem struck.
Red Bull is currently investigating the issue.
