Lando Norris suffers Monaco DNF with latest problem in disaster F1 title defence
Lando Norris has been hit with his second battery-related issue of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, with the McLaren driver forced into retirement after 46 laps of the 78-lap race.
The reigning F1 drivers' champion is enduring a torrid start to his title defence, with a second consecutive non-finish due to power unit problems.
The 26-year-old failed to complete the Canadian Grand Prix and also did not start the Chinese Grand Prix due to an electrical issue.
He now has just 58 points from five rounds, with standings leader Kimi Antonelli on 131 — and heading for 25 more if he converts pole position to victory in the Principality.
The British driver has been struck with numerous gremlins over the opening five rounds of the year, and lost significant time in Monte Carlo when his MCL40 failed in FP2.
