Commemorating the men who were lost aboard Irish vessels during World War 2
On Saturday 26th September @11am, a new plaque and plinth will be unveiled to commemorate the men who were lost aboard Irish vessels during WW2. This event will take place at the Mercantile Marine Memorial at Seán Moore Road. The Ringsend and District Historical Society in co-operation with the Ringsend Irishtown Tidytowns Environment Group have chosen the occasion of Seán Moore TD’s 40th anniversary to mark the occasion.
Sean was instrumental in getting the monument in place. We hereby notify all the living relatives of the deceased men and wish to see as many as possible attending this historic occasion. Dublin Port Company has generously funded the upgrade and Dublin City Council are going to create a spectacular cobblestone bed on which the new plaque and plinth will be erected. Many thanks to both of them.
A big thank you to Dermot Lacey, Ronan O’Donnell, Dave O’Donnell and Irial Slattery for all their help.
