Remy Cointreau shares jump as cognac maker unveils plan to reverse sales and profits slide
Shares in the maker of Remy Martin cognac and Cointreau liqueur soared after it set out a turnaround plan.Paris-listed Remy Cointreau, whose Cointreau brand is promoted by The White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza, aims to win back custom by offering more affordable drinks.After boss Franck Marilly targeted a profits boost of £86.5million in the next three years, shares rose 10 per cent – and are up 13 per cent in 2026 – as it reported an 11.5 per cent dip in profit to £143million and 5 per cent fall in sales to £809million for the year to March 31 in a ‘persistently complex macroeconomic and geopolitical environment’. Marilly hinted at a disposal of brands, saying there were ‘no sacred cows’.It will also launch a cheaper Remy Martin to target US shoppers, introduce its drinks into convenience stores and expand its presence at airports.The group has struggled with declining sales amid tough competition and Donald Trump’s trade war.
