Gardai catch brazen drunk driver 10 times over the legal limit

Gardaí in Longford have said that ‘you couldn’t write’ a seizure and arrest they made of a drunk driver over the weekend. While cup-holders in cars are usually a great way to make sure that you don’t spill your coffee, can of Coke, what have you, it’s usually an unspoken rule not to use them alcohol — especially while you’re driving. However, a group of lads in Longford who were pulled over had their vehicle seized, and the driver was arrested, after all three were found drunk in the car. Pic: An Garda Síochána/X As well as Gardaí finding all three of the occupants of the car intoxicated, they found that there were empty alcohol containers throughout the car; including open cans of beer in the driver’s side door, and a bottle of beer in the cup-holder. To top it al off, they found that the driver, who was previously disqualified, was a whopping 10 times over the legal limit. ‘We’d say, “you couldn’t write this stuff”, but here we are… Longford RPU stopped this car over the weekend,’ Gardaí wrote on Twitter (X). ‘3 male occupants intoxicated. Open alcoholic containers. Disqualified driver was 10 times the legal limit.’ They confirmed that the driver was arrested, while the car was seized and a court date is to follow.
