Mrs Brown's Boys star mourns loss of beloved wife
Mrs Brown’s Boys star Dermot O’Neill has suffered the loss of his beloved wife after a surprising but brief battle with cancer.
Patricia ‘Chickie’ Maguire passed away in the early hours of Monday morning at the age of 60 in St Francis Hospice Blanchardstown.
She had only received her shock stage four cancer diagnosis in January when she travelled to Spain for a hernia operation.

Spanish surgeons told Chickie that they were unable to operate on her as they found several tumours in her stomach.
This week, Dermot told The Irish Sun: ‘Chickie left us about half three in the morning. We are absolutely devastated. I am going to miss her so much.’
Until very recently, Chickie had worked on the tills at Dunnes Stores in Portmarnock after setting up the branch’s click-and-collect service with other colleagues.

She had been receiving chemotherapy at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital and previously paid tribute to the staff there for the care she was given.
Chickie nursed Dermot through his own cancer battle several years ago, when he was rushed to hospital over Christmas in 2019.
At the time, Chickie said that his hospitalisation had been very tough on his family and the various medicines and treatments were beginning to take their toll.

In 2019, she said: ‘What we didn’t want to happen happened. Dermo has been hospitalised to rehydrate him and be put on a feeding tube.
‘Two more chemo sessions left and eight radiotherapy sessions. It’s been a tough road for him. Let’s all send our love to get him over the finish line. The radiation and chemo has him exhausted and unable to eat.’
