Fifth person charged in connection with alleged assault that left young man unconscious in Co Mayo
A fifth person has been charged in connection with the alleged assault of a male who was found with serious injuries in Co Mayo last August.A man in his 20s sustained serious injuries in the incident in the Tucker Street area of Castlebar in the early hours of the morning of Saturday, August 23, 2025.The injured male, in his 20s, was found unconscious after the alleged assault outside a licensed premises.He was removed from the scene and taken to Mayo University Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.Four males, three aged in their 20s and one in his late teens, were previously arrested in connection with the serious incident before a fifth person, a male aged in his 20s, was charged, Gardai confirmed.A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí investigating the serious assault that occurred in the Tucker Street area of Castlebar, Co Mayo in the early hours of Saturday 23rd of August 2025 have charged a fifth person.Sign up to our new Crime Ireland newsletter and get exclusive content from Michael O'Toole and Paul HealyThe Irish Mirror's Crime Writers Michael O'Toole and Paul Healy are writing a new weekly newsletter called Crime Ireland.
