Pics: Irish Everest heroes make triumphant return to Dublin Airport

The four Irish lads who climbed Mount Everest have returned to Dublin Airport after their amazing achievement. The climbing team, which included Mayo GAA star Pádraig O’Hara, Éanna McGowan, Jason Black, and Adam Sweeney (who made history as the youngest Irish person to reach the summit of Everest ), stood on top of the world overnight on Wednesday (May 20). 22-year-old Adam, from Dunmore East in Co Waterford, became the youngest Irish person ever to stand on the summit of Everest, and was part of the first Irish team in nearly a decade to do so. The 47-day expedition in Nepal concluded when they reached the peak of the 8,448-metre mountain at 1.33 am Irish time on Wednesday (May 20). As well as being the youngest Irish person to summit Everest, Adam has become the first person from Waterford to do so. Messages of support flooded in for the group following their peak, with Adam thanking people on Instagram. ‘It’s so good to be back, thank you for all the messages of support,’ he wrote.
