What’s Cooking: Laotian food and Japanese matcha with Saap Saap
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Laotian food truck Saap Saap is bringing the flavors of Laos to Honolulu.Owners Rocky and Tamara Chandara joined HNN’s Sunrise to talk about their mobile cafe, which serves Laotian curries and sausage, and Japanese matcha drinks. Meals are served with aromatic blue butterfly pea sticky rice.“We are the first mobile cafe on the island that combines both premium matchas and hojichas from Kyoto and Yame Japan along with Lao fusion,“ Tamara Chandara said. “Rocky makes our Lao sausages from scratch, a 10-12 hour process.”You can find them on weekday mornings at UH Manoa’s Food Truck Row and most Saturdays at the Pearlridge Center night market from 5-9 p.m. They are also available for catering.For their latest schedule, follow Saap Saap on Instagram at @saapsaap_hi or text 808-754-5385.Copyright 2026 Hawaii News Now.
