Left-Wing Campaigners Aim To Shut Down Anti-Woke Think Tank

The left-wing legal activist group Good Law Project (GLP) has launched another politically motivated attack on the respected centre-right think tank Policy Exchange, attempting to weaponize official regulator the Charity Commission and silence conservative policy debate.  GLP’s latest complaint targets Policy Exchange’s Project 29—a policy roadmap designed to provide a future government with actionable ideas, such as leaving the European Convention on Human Rights, tackling the small boat migrant crisis, and prioritising British citizens’ interests over the demands of net-zero climate goals.   Rather than engage in democratic debate, the GLP claims these legitimate, widely supported proposals represent unlawful and partisan activity that violates the think tank’s educational mandate as a charity.  The GLP, which previously targeted the charity for daring to challenge radical gender ideology, is explicitly attempting to smear the initiative. It also compares it to the Heritage Foundation’s conservative Project 2025 in the United States. Matthew Gill, a lawyer for the activist group, demanded the regulator clamp down on the think tank, accusing it of being a propaganda outfit funded by dark money. The Charity Commission, which is already reviewing the GLP’s prior grievances, has not commented on this latest attempt by left-wing campaigners to use lawfare against right-of-centre intellectual organisations.
