Dutton Ranch Season 2 Chances Addressed By Returning Yellowstone Producer

Beth and Rip's time in Texas looks to just be getting started. Picking up about a year after Yellowstone's ending, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) return for their own spinoff on May 15 in Dutton Ranch, which brings the married couple from Montana to Texas. Serving as the fourth Yellowstone spinoff series, Beth and Rip now find themselves as outsiders with intense new rivals and troubles from local ranchers. As the Taylor Sheridan-created franchise continues to expand with sequels, including the Kayce Dutton-led Marshals season 2 already being renewed by CBS, the question remains of whether Dutton Ranch is also planning to extend its stay on Paramount+. In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Dutton Ranch director and executive producer Christina Voros revealed that "any speculation about season 2 is beyond [her] knowledge" at this point in the series' production, though is hopeful to "see where it goes" in the future: Christina Voros: "Honestly, if I had something to share [about a potential season 2], I would. I will say that there is such an embarrassment of riches, in terms of the cast that we've had the honor to work with on this show. Getting to show up to work in the morning and seeing Ed Harris and Annette Bening is not a gift most people get to have in life. I feel very, very lucky that it is one of the experiences I've had this year. When you have a cast like that, you just want to see where it goes. I could film with that cast of characters forever." Though Dutton Ranch season 2 doesn't appear to be an active project quite yet, the series has already faced a major behind-the-scenes shake-up ahead of its season 1 premiere on Paramount+. In late April, it was confirmed that Dutton Ranch creator Chad Feehan had been fired after completing work on season 1, with reports indicating that the decision came down to clashes with long-time Yellowstone stars and important figures. In her interview with ScreenRant, Voros, who also previously served as a director on Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone and 1883, addressed Feehan's exit while being grateful for the world that his team crafted "for these characters to move into." With no confirmation of season 2 yet as the series prepares to make its premiere this week, Voros was unable to detail how Feehan's exit may impact the show's future: Christina Voros: "I think Chad [Feehan] did an exceptional job building a world of adversaries for Rip and Beth to come up against in this new chapter of their lives. As far as the dynamics behind his departure and this is our first — we haven't come out into the world yet, so any speculation about a season 2 is beyond my knowledge. I'm grateful to him and his team for creating a world for these characters to move into." If Dutton Ranch season 2 does come to fruition, the returning stars have already teased their desires for a future crossover with the cast of Marshals. Cole Hauser told ScreenRant that he'd be interested in seeing Rip return to Montana for an episode, though that would more likely mean having Beth and Rip pop up on Marshals rather than Dutton Ranch briefly taking them back home. While the original series enjoyed five seasons on the air, the longest a Yellowstone spinoff series has run so far is two seasons. That said, Sheridan's prequel 1883 was a miniseries while 1923 was envisioned as a defined two-season arc. With Marshals and Dutton Ranch being sequels without any timeline limitations, both have the potential to be long-running shows like their flagship predecessor, especially with the high-profile talent they're recruiting with the likes of Annette Bening and Ed Harris for the newest venture. Consisting of nine total episodes, Dutton Ranch season 1 will premiere on May 15 with a two-episode drop, followed by seven weekly releases on Fridays. In addition to streaming on Paramount+, the Yellowstone sequel will air new episodes on Paramount Network for cable viewing. Release Date May 15, 2026 Network Paramount+ Showrunner Chad Feehan
