Rayner says blocking Burnham 'was a mistake' - and calls on Starmer to 'meet the moment'
Angela Rayner has made her first public comments since the local elections delivered devastating results for the Labour Party.
In a lengthy statement, the former deputy prime minister summed up the state of the government, saying: "What we are doing isn't working, and it needs to change. This may be our last chance."
She also called for Andy Burnham to return to parliament, stating that blocking him from running in the Gorton and Denton by-election "was a mistake".
