BMW announces US and Canadian pricing for iX3 50 xDrive
The iX3 50 xDrive, the first series-production Neue Klasse model, will enter the US market on 25 September. For Canada, the carmaker does not give an exact date, only stating that the ‘Canadian market launch will take place in Fall 2026.’Just for comparison: In Europe and the UK, the iX3 will already hit the road this summer. In fact, BMW already delivered the first units to select customers in February and also announced the first model update.The electric SUV currently rolls off the production line in Debrecen, Hungary. It is where the carmaker will also initially produce units for the North American market, before moving production to Mexico. However, the production facility in San Luis Potosí is not expected to start operations until mid-2027. In the US, the iX3 50 xDrive will offer an EPA-estimated range of up to 434 miles, depending on wheel and tyre specification. The highest range figure is achieved with optional 20-inch summer tyres, while the standard 20-inch all-season setup delivers 383 miles. Versions equipped with 21-inch and 22-inch wheels offer between 392 and 399 miles.The manufacturer also announced an NRCan-certified range of up to 698 kilometres for the Canadian-market version. That is significantly less than the WLTP rating in Europe. It certifies the BMW iX3 50 xDrive a range of 805 kilometres.The model is based on BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, which combines new electric motors, cylindrical battery cells with increased energy density and an 800-volt architecture. BMW says the new drivetrain reduces energy losses by 40 per cent compared to the previous generation, while also lowering weight by 10 per cent and manufacturing costs by 20 per cent.The iX3 supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW and can add up to 185 miles of range in ten minutes, as BMW states, adding that charging from 10 to 80 per cent takes 21 minutes at compatible 800-volt charging stations using the standard NACS charging port. AC charging supports up to 15.4 kW as standard and up to 19.2 kW with the BMW Wallbox Professional.BMW has already opened reservations for the iX3 through its online configurator in North America.
