Cosmopolitan Editors’ Best-Dressed of Met Gala 2026 Is Doechii

Doechii, Miss D-O-E, is the absolute queen of Met Gala 2026. With this year’s theme (“Fashion Is Art”) being very broad and open for interpretation, I wasn’t quite sure who would truly steal the show as our Cosmo fave of the year, but once I saw bare toes traipsing across the Met steps, I knew immediately who won.Mike Coppola//Getty ImagesDoechii committed to the bit, her body being the vessel of artistic expression in a way that not only is on theme but also incredibly Doechii. This is even more powerful when you think about the restrictions and policing that happens to Black bodies, in fashion and beyond. Taking ownership and letting your body speak for itself is powerful and exactly what it means to explore the body (and how others perceive it) as a dedicated art form. She wore custom Marc Jacobs for the occasion, a revealing asymmetric garment with draped fabric in a burgundy wine color that showed off her abdomen and looped around her left breast. She also specifically got henna on her feet so that she could avoid wearing heels. (Which, honestly, same girl. I understand!) She did, however, wear a few anklets that accented the dye on her feet and the lack of shoes.“I wanted to go with something very human and vulnerable and grounding,” Doechii said while on the carpet. The 27-year-old rapper is known for her eccentric sense of style and this moment is further proof she is exactly who she thinks she is. To complete the look, Doechii wore a burgundy head wrap, leaning into the bohemian aesthetic. She also wore a pair of drop-down earrings with purple, yellow, and green stones. She included a few chunky gold bangles, too.Dimitrios Kambouris//Getty ImagesSkin has never been more in than it is now and Doechii’s Met Gala look is a master class.Last year, she made her Met Gala debut and was a part of the host committee. The evening honored the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition with the dress code “Tailored for You.” In 2025, Doechii wore a Louis Vuitton suit, complete with a monogram tuxedo jacket and Damier shorts. A rounded Afro, mini Speedy bag, and glossy nude-lip makeup look were the finishing touches.Versatility is the name of the game and it’s exciting to know this is only the very beginning of Doechii’s Met Gala journey.Aiyana Ishmael is the style editor at Cosmopolitan magazine.
