‘Ransom Canyon’ Season 2 Is Coming to Netflix Much Sooner Than Expected

In a shocking—but incredibly welcome—move, Netflix has officially announced that Season 2 of Ransom Canyon will premiere on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
This release date comes as a massive surprise to fans who have been following the show’s production. The beloved drama, starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, was notably absent from Netflix’s initial 2026 lineup. In fact, after filming wrapped on the second season, we speculated that the series might not return until 2027 given that it was entirely absent from the Next on Netflix 2026 roster.
However, following a few recent teases from some of the people attached to the show, indicating an earlier launch, Netflix officially dropped the press release today, confirming we only have a few months left to wait before we head back to the Texas Hill Country.
What to Expect in Ransom Canyon Season 2
As we previously noted when we decoded the Season 2 episode titles, the new season will consist of eight brand-new episodes (notably down from the 10 for season 1).
According to Netflix’s official synopsis, Season 2 will feature a significant time jump, picking up six months after the dramatic events of the first season finale.
Here is what Netflix had to say about the upcoming plot:
“A heartfelt drama set against the sweeping vistas of Texas Hill Country, Ransom Canyon follows the intersecting lives of deep-rooted families in a town where your neighbors know everyone’s business. Season 2 picks up six months after the events of the first season, with rancher Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel) fighting to reclaim his legacy after being unseated as trustee of his family’s Double K Ranch, while musician Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly) must decide if her heart truly belongs in the small town she once tried to outrun or in the fast-paced world of New York City. Are they star-crossed lovers, or fated to be together? In Ransom Canyon, true love stories are messy, complicated, and always worth the wait.”
Who is returning for Season 2?
We’ve been keeping a close eye on major cast changes and updates for Season 2, and today’s press release confirms a stacked ensemble.
Leading the cast once again are Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, who also serve as Executive Producers this season. They are joined by returning favorites and new faces, including Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, Marianly Tejada, Casey W. Johnson, Patricia Clarkson, and Ben Robson.
Behind the camera, Creator and Showrunner April Blair returns to steer the ship alongside Executive Producers Dan Angel, Bradley Gardner, and Joe Fazzio.
