Trump makes bizarre Meghan Markle remark as he takes swipe at Harry
Donald Trump hit out at Prince Harry after the Duke of Sussex seemingly appealed to the US President - as well as Vladimir Putin - during his trip to Ukraine. Asked about the royal's plea for the war-torn country during an event held on Thursday at the White House, Mr Trump initially asked a few questions - which appeared to be focused on Meghan Markle.During an unannounced visit to Kyiv, Prince Harry addressed Putin and said there is "still a moment, now, to stop this war". Although he did not mention Trump specifically, he said he had a message for the "American leadership", urging the US to "show that it can honour its international treaty obligations". When asked about the comments, Trump told reporters: "How's he doing? How's his wife? Please give her my regards, OK?"He continued: "I don't know. I know one thing, Prince Harry is not speaking for the UK, that's for sure. I think I'm speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry, that's for sure. But thank him for his advice."The Duke of Sussex gave the speech during a visit to Kyiv in which he met senior members of the Ukrainian miliary and some of the thousands of soldiers who have fought in the war with Russia. He arrived at the city's central station following an overnight train journey from Poland.Harry said: "Years into this war, with immense losses and limited gains, it is increasingly clear that this path offers no victor - only more loss.” He added: "President Putin, no nation benefits from the continued loss of life we are witnessing.”He then addressed the Trump administration: "This is a moment for American leadership – a moment for America to show that it can honour its international treaty obligations - not out of charity, but out of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”Harry, who served in the British army from 2005 until 2015, told the Ukrainian soldiers that he was "not here as a politician". He added: "I am here as a soldier who understands service, as a humanitarian who has seen the human cost of conflict, and as a friend of Ukraine who believes the world must not grow used to this war or numb to its consequences."His speech comes after Russia launched over a thousand missiles and drones at Ukraine in the last week. Large parts of Kyiv have been left without heating due to strikes on key energy infrastructure.
