Four people rescued from boat fire off Dún Laoghaire

Four people have been rescued from a boat that caught fire in Dún Laoghaire harbour. The people on board the 11m pleasure craft called the Coast Guard at around 3.45pm, reporting a fire on board. According to the Coast Guard, the vessel was about 1.5 miles north east of Dún Laoghaire. The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre Dublin alerted Dún Laoghaire RNLI. It launched a lifecoat which arrived on the scene at around 3.56pm. The four adults on board were successfully rescued and taken ashore. They were assessed at the RNLI station in Dún Laoghaire by HSE and fire service personnel. The multiagency response involved Dún Laoghaire Coast Guard Unit, Dún Laoghaire RNLI, Dublin Fire Brigade, Dublin Port, the National Ambulance Service and gardaí. At around 5.15pm, the vessel fire was reported as extinguished and the vessel sank.
