Man dies as arrest made following assault
A man, aged in his 70s, has died following an assault on the grounds of a residential premises
The man died following a fatal assault that happened in the townland of Cappagh in Waterford.
The assault took place on Monday evening, April 13.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene in the townland, which is located just 10km east of Dungarvan.
The injured man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination is set to take place.

On Monday evening, a man, aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.
A statement from An Garda Síochána confirmed the residential property and scene of the assault has been preserved for forensic examination.
They added that both the Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.
Gardaí said: ‘A Senior Investigation Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Dungarvan Garda Station.’
At the time of writing, investigations are ongoing.
