Heat index soars in Zambales, hits 'danger' level in Olongapo City
SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Extreme summer heat persisted in Zambales and nearby areas on Monday, with some locations reaching hazardous heat index levels. At 2 p.m., the Barangay Barretto Automatic Weather Station in Olongapo City recorded a heat index of 40.3°C, classified by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) under the “danger” level, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
