Halo: Master Chief Collection Just Got A Major Update

Few franchises are as iconic and beloved as Halo, and though the series has been through some tough times in recent years, there are still plenty of people who log in every day to play it. Most do so via the Master Chief Collection, a comprehensive compilation of the first six games in the series, all remastered. Halo: Master Chief Collection is still receiving a ton of active support from the developers ahead of the release of the Combat Evolved remake later this year, and it's generally in quite a good state, given that it released well over a decade ago at this point. Now, the latest of those updates has rolled out, and it has some pretty wide-reaching consequences for those who were hoping to gain an advantage in the game's PvP modes. Halo: Master Chief Collection Is Cleaning House Master Chief holding a shotgun in Halo 3 while a Warthog drives behind him. As first reported by PureXbox, the Halo Support team has rolled out a new backend update to the Easy Anti-Cheat system, that has since resulted in a lot of players getting the ban hammer in one form or another. The team shared the news via social media, saying, "As part of our efforts to improve player safety and match integrity, an update to Easy Anti-Cheat efficiency in #HaloMCC has been deployed, resulting in a significant ban wave. No download is required." Anyone that has played multiplayer in MCC in recent times will tell you that there are plenty of players running around that are clearly using hacks and cheat engines to pump their numbers up. Seeing this addressed despite the game not being one of the biggest multiplayer titles around these days is actually quite encouraging. This latest change comes after a much more significant update dropped in February that added a big change to The Exchange to proceedings. The Exchange is a place where players can earn 'Spartan Points' to grab gear customizations, and the update removed any associated time limits, allowing the items to be purchased in perpetuity. The Halo Remake Lands This Year Excitingly, the Master Chief Collection won't be the only way to enjoy Halo by the end of the year. Though it doesn't come with multiplayer, Halo: Campaign Evolved is going to be a really nostalgic return to one of the best single-player campaigns of all-time, rebuilt from the ground up to offer players another go around in (hopefully) more quality than they have ever experienced before. Halo: Campaign Evolved doesn't have a release date beyond 2026, but expect it to arrive ahead of GTA VI, which it likely won't want to compete with directly.
