It struck most people, including me, as a “nothing burger”, but Chas Freeman says that it was significant because Trump invited the Europeans and other countries affected by the closure of Hormuz to open it themselves. The Europeans and everybody else understand by now that there is no military solution to the problem. Iran is in control of Hormuz, and the only way other countries can get Iran’s permission to go through is through diplomacy and negotiation, not military means. The procedure for this control is currently being put into law by the Iranian parliament. This control is going to be jointly arranged with Oman, a Gulf country that has always been a neutral mediator in the region. Then Nima brings up the breaking news that Kuwait’s desalinization plant that provides 90% of Kuwait’s drinking water has been hit. Nima and Chas agree that this was not likely to have been an Iranian attack but an Israeli false flag. Kuwait has been more sympathetic to the Palestinian cause than other GCC countries. Many are asking what is the objective of this war. To begin with, it was instigated by Israel after an agreement by Trump that Netanyahu talked him into on Dec. 28. Trump has embraced the Israeli concept of war, which is the utter destruction of the enemy and the assassination of any would be negotiator or mediator trying to end the war. Diplomatic immunity, even if not formalized, has been the custom of humanity for thousands of years. This resembles a new level of savagery and insanity never seen before. Nima asks whether European countries are beginning to act more independent of the US. Chas says that the recent meeting of 30 European countries to discuss what to do about the closure of Hormuz was between pathetic US vassals where only military means were discussed and diplomacy was not even mentioned. In spite of this, Chas says Europe is in the process of decoupling from the US, and the Iran war has certainly accelerated the process. We still don’t know for sure just how much Trump’s subservience to Israel has to do with blackmail material in the Epstein files, but we do know that Attorney General Pam Bondi has been fired for releasing too many of them. Chas says that Trump’s cabinet meetings resemble those of Saddam Hussein, which were exercises in sycophancy, where he once pulled out a gun and shot a cabinet member who was insufficiently flattering, but that may be next. The war may result in unification of Sunni and Shia countries and peoples against Israel against the US. In countries such as Egypt, which have mixed Sunni and Shia populations, there is no violence between them. There are Sunni and Shia mosques on opposite corners of many streets, like Catholics and different Protestant denominations in the United States. The United States will be forced to get out of West Asia in its own interests, and leave the Zionist entity to the destruction it richly deserves. The best thing anyone can do for ordinary Israelis is try to help them escape to other countries.
