Tributes paid as Roy Keane's beloved mum Marie passes away
Tributes have poured in for Roy Keane’s family, following the passing of his mother Marie.
Marie Keane, née Lynch, passed away on Friday (March 27) in St Anne’s Ward at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.
Her death notice reads that she is predeceased by her husband Maurice ‘Mossie,’ her brother Pat, niece Estella and nephew Thomas.
Marie is the beloved mother of Denis, Johnson, Hilary, former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland captain Roy, and Pat.

Her death notice adds that she’s ‘Sadly missed by her loving family, sisters Ina, Annette and Josephine, brothers Jack, Leo, Michael and Noel, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Linda, Theresa and Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, her great neighbours and friends.’
Tributes have poured in for the Keane family following Marie’s passing, with one writing: ‘My condolence to Roy and his family in their recent passing of their beloved mother Marie may she rest in peace.’
‘So sad to hear of the passing of Marie – what a lovely lady – sincere sympathy to all her family may she rest in peace,’ another wrote, while another added: ‘So sad to hear about Marie’s passing, our deepest condolences to both the Keane and Lynch families at this sad time, may she rest in peace.’

Ms Keane will be reposing at O’Connor Bros. Funeral Home in North Gate Bridge on Monday, March 30 from 6pm to 7pm, with prayers at 6.45pm.
Requiem mass for Ms Keane will take place in the Church of the Resurrection, Farranree on Tuesday, March 31 at 11am. Funeral afterwards to St Catherine’s Cemetery, Kilcully.
Roy’s father, affectionately known as ‘Mossie,’ passed away in 2019. He had previously joked that his mother was ‘the only boss I ever listened to.’
