Man dies following St Patrick's Day assault in Limerick
A man in his 50s, who was injured in an assault in Limerick city on St Patrick's Day, has died in hospital.
He has been named locally as Liam Higgins.
The incident occurred on Athlunkard Street at around 9.30pm following St Patrick's Day festivities in the city.
It is understood an argument between a number of people escalated and Mr Higgins was injured in the affray.
He was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where he died yesterday.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later today.
Three men have previously appeared in court charged in relation to the investigation.
