Popular airline announces 'transformable' Economy seats
A popular airline is introducing a major change to its Economy-class seats with the launch of Relax Row.
United Airlines, which flies out of Dublin Airport, announced on Wednesday that a new form of transformable seats will be arriving on its aircraft.
The United Relax Row is essentially a set of Economy seats that can transform into a couch.
The airline wants to create ‘a more comfortable option for customers travelling in the United Economy cabin on long-haul flights’.

United Airlines holds exclusivity on the design, among North American airlines, as the first to introduce this type of seating.
The new row of three seats is fitted with individually adjustable leg rests that fold up at a 90-degree angle.
This will create more room for stretching out or nodding off to sleep.
The company said: ‘The United Relax Row is ideal for families travelling with small children, solo travellers, and couples who want the value of United Economy but with a little extra comfort.

‘Customers travelling in United Relax Row will receive additional amenities for their flight, including a custom-fitted mattress pad, a specially sized plush blanket, two additional pillows, as well as a plush toy and Children’s Travel Kit for families.’
The new seating option is expected to launch in 2027, with plans in place to offer it on more than 200 Boeing 787 and 777 widebody aircraft by 2030.
The seats will be located between United Economy and United Premium Plus and the airline will offer up to 12 sections on each plane.
