Read More PPP Cameras, an independent camera retailer and repair shop based in the UK, has introduced a new custom watch inspired by classic Nikon cameras. The new PPP Cameras N168 Watch is built around a Casio digital watch and features design elements drawn from Nikon’s iconic black-and-yellow styling. The release follows the success of the company’s earlier PPP Cameras Casio M-Edition watches, which were inspired by classic cameras from Leica. Inspired by Nikon’s Classic Design The N168 adopts the familiar black and yellow color scheme associated with Nikon cameras. According to PPP Cameras, the watch is designed to “blend precision design with classic photographic style.” The watch also includes a canvas strap with yellow stitching, inspired by the camera straps traditionally bundled with Nikon cameras. Many of Nikon’s film cameras and early DSLRs featured straps with distinctive yellow stitching or yellow branding. PPP Cameras says the watch design pays homage to the classic Nikon cameras. The Nikon FM, one of the brand’s most recognizable film cameras, is featured heavily in the product photos for the N168.  Three Finishes, Including a Titanium Version The N168 comes in three finishes, similar to the iconic Nikon FM2 film camera. The PPP Cameras N168 Watch will be available in three different finishes: Black, Chrome, and Titanium. The finish options echo variations of the Nikon FM2, which was historically available in black and chrome versions. Nikon also released a limited titanium version known as the Nikon FM2/T, which remains highly sought after by collectors and film photographers. Each watch is hand-customized by PPP Cameras founder and camera repair specialist Pierro Pozella. A Camera Repair Shop Turned Watch Maker PPP Cameras operates out of a brick-and-mortar shop in Birmingham, UK, where the company sells cameras, processes film, and performs camera repairs. Pozella handles the repair work himself and shared in an interview with Monocle magazine that he receives broken cameras almost daily, often spending hours restoring them. He began repairing cameras at just 15 years old, while volunteering at a charity shop. The shop allowed him to take home broken cameras to see if they could be repaired — and if a camera couldn’t be fixed, he was allowed to keep it. The company’s earlier Leica-inspired watch, the PPP Cameras Casio M-Edition, proved popular with photographers. The first two production batches sold out, with a third batch scheduled to ship in April. Pricing and Availability The PPP Cameras N168 Watch is currently available for pre-order through the PPP Cameras website, with shipping expected to begin in May. The titanium and chrome versions are priced at £150 (around $200), while the black version costs £170 (around $225).
