WASHINGTON, D.C. — Thousands of pop culture fans are expected to gather in the nation’s capital this weekend as Awesome Con 2026 returns to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for three days of comics, movies, gaming, books and cosplay.
The annual convention, now in its 13th year, runs through Sunday, March 15, bringing together more than 65,000 fans from across the region for one of the largest celebrations of geek culture in the Mid-Atlantic.
Hosted by LeftField Media, the event features celebrity appearances, artist meet-and-greets, panels, gaming, shopping and interactive experiences spanning comics, anime, television, movies and literature.
Celebrity Guests and Fan Favorites
The convention’s guest lineup includes dozens of well-known actors, voice performers, authors and comic creators. Fans will have the opportunity to meet stars from beloved franchises including Firefly, Doctor Who, Stranger Things and Star Trek.
Notable guests scheduled to appear include Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Gillian Anderson, George Takei, Ron Perlman, Paul Giamatti, Parker Posey, Carla Gugino, Jamie Campbell Bower and Adam Savage, along with voice actors from anime, gaming and animated series.
A special Firefly cast reunion is also planned with Fillion, Tudyk, Gina Torres, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher and Summer Glau among the featured guests.
Cosplay, Books, Science and More
Beyond celebrity panels and autograph sessions, Awesome Con offers themed experiences for fans of all ages.
Highlights include:
Destination Cosplay, where fans can show off costumes and connect with professional cosplayers
Anime Yokocho, celebrating anime, manga and Japanese pop culture
Science Fair, blending real science with science fiction
Book Fair, featuring authors and literary programming
Pride Alley, spotlighting LGBTQ+ creators and fans
Awesome Con Jr., a family-focused area with workshops, lightsaber training, science demonstrations and kids activities
Interactive attractions, live performances and gaming experiences will also take place throughout the convention.

Family-Friendly Fan Convention
Organizers say the event is designed to be welcoming and accessible for fans of all ages, combining fandom entertainment with educational programming and creative experiences.
The convention also features vendor booths, comic artists, collectibles, merchandise and fan meetups across the convention center’s exhibit halls.

Friday, March 13 — 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 14 — 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, March 15 — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event takes place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW, Washington, D.C.
