London has been named the world’s best city for a sports holiday – sports trippers can enjoy an incredible wealth of events across almost every sport as well as world-class attractions and experiences

London is a global destination for many things. It’s a theatre hub and an arts hot-spot. It’s a foodie destination full of incredible international food. And it’s also a world-class sports holiday destination. A recent survey from luggage storage company, Stasher, has named London “The World’s Best City for Sports-Tripping”, and it’s not hard to see why. After analysing 50 cities around the world, renowned for their sporting attractions and fixtures, London came out on top thanks to “offering the most complete sports-tripping experience of any city analysed.” The survey also revealed where the world’s sports-trippers are heading, and what travellers are looking for when they book a sports holiday. A sports holiday in London One of the things that makes London a particularly brilliant spot for a sports holiday is the ‘density and diversity’ of its offerings. This extends across both the sporting events themselves and London as a whole. On the one hand, thanks to London’s wealth of stadiums, venues, and sporting organisations, visitors can enjoy an unequalled offering of events. Whether you want to watch elite football, rugby, cricket, basketball, or tennis, you’ll find it in London. You’ll often even find multiple events across the same weekend! A whole day or weekend could be spent at the same venue, exploring all it has to offer. Plus, around the events themselves, London as a whole has loads to offer. The survey of cities revealed that “[fans] increasingly want things to do before and after matchday, especially when tickets are expensive or hard to secure”. And frankly, if you can’t find something to do in London, no matter where you are, then you simply haven’t tried. From world-class museums to art trails, sightseeing routes, and more, London is full of activities. You don’t even have to pay a penny for many of them! The one downside is that London is hardly an affordable destination. As the survey notes: “Food, drink and transport costs are among the highest in the rankings. However, the data suggests many sports-trippers are willing to absorb higher prices in exchange for variety, prestige and atmosphere.” The World’s Best Cities for Sports-Tripping in 2026 So, with London topping the rankings, where else are sports fans travelling to in droves, as they seek out the ultimate sports holiday?
