Man was found dead at York guest house
A man was found dead at a guest house in York.
Craig Graham Ronald George Oates, who was 46, had no fixed abode at the time of his death, the opening to his inquest was told.
North Yorkshire assistant coroner Catherine Devereux said Mr Oates died on 16 August last year.
Mr Oates, who was born in York and single, was staying at the Diamonds Guest House on Bishopthorpe Road when he died.
Sitting at Northallerton Coroners’ Court on Thursday, Ms Devereux said: “The circumstances known at this time are that Craig Oates was staying with a friend in York.

“On the 16th of August 2025, the friend woke to find Craig deceased. Drug use was indicated at the scene.”
The provisional cause of death was given as combined drug toxicity.
The coroner adjouned the inquest to a date to be fixed.
