Care for a dance (or at least a jig)? Popular Kildare GAA club to host 'Céilí Mór'

A popular GAA club based in County Kildare is preparing to host a 'Céilí Mór'. The event, which is being organised by Glór an Churraigh, will take place inside the grounds of Sarsfields GAA Club as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026. The club notably made headlines earlier this week when a fire broke out on its grounds. In addition, Glór an Churraigh has promised to help any novice dancers with the basic steps if they need it (never underestimate how complex Irish dancing can be!) ENTERTAINMENT The spokesperson also revealed that a short drama entitled 'Nuair a Tháinig an Piarsach go Teileann' will be performed during the Céilí. "The play tells the story of Pádraig Mac Piarais' visit to the Donegal Gaeltacht in 1907," they explained. "It'll be the first performance by the newly formed Irish language drama group, Compántas Drámaíochta Ghlór an Churraigh." The club spokesperson concluded by asserting: "A great night's fun and culture is promised!"
