Virginia road rage stabbing leaves woman and dog dead, three people wounded
Virginia State Police shot and killed a knife-wielding man after he fatally stabbed a woman and a dog and wounded three other people in a road rage incident on the Capital Beltway, authorities said Monday.The confrontation unfolded about 1:20 p.m. Sunday near Exit 52 on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County when a trooper arrived and "was confronted by a male suspect carrying a knife," state police said in a statement. "The trooper then shot the suspect in self-defense," police said. The armed man, identified as Jared Llamado, 32, of McLean, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Michele Adams, 39, was stabbed to death, and three other women, ages 36, 37 and 40, were wounded.Adams died from her wounds, and a "dog, owned by Llamado, was also stabbed and is deceased," police added. The stabbings, which remain under investigation, are not believed to be terrorism-related.The trooper who opened fire was not injured and was placed on administrative leave until an internal probe of the shooting is done."The preliminary investigation indicates that Llamado did not know the victims prior to the incident," police said. "None of the victims were in Llamado’s vehicle."
