Dead of Winter Fest: The Trilogy has been and gone, but the stench and the memories from this one are going to stick around for a long while. Thankfully, there weren’t any tricky weather conditions to deal with this time, which allowed Kendo and Kwando from BrainBath to run a flawless festival. They managed to drink Ivory Blacks dry and make plenty of new friends along the way, making this the festival of 2026 already for me.It was a proper feast of underground death metal, and it was a pleasure to get the chance to interview the bands as well as seeing so many old and new faces in the crowd. For this chat, we caught up with Swedish death metallers Toxeamia, who were many people’s surprise package on the day. We’ve been covering plenty of the fallout from the festival lately, including our chat with Austerymn and French death grinders Putrid Offal. Toxaemia played a blistering set and, once again, got the stage divers flowing.
