Iranian media say the country has moved quickly to appoint a new Supreme Leader after the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports.Mojtaba Khamenei, the Ayatollah’s son, has been selected by the Assembly of Experts to take on the role, according to Iran International.Local media reports that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pushed for a swift transition, urging senior clerics to confirm a successor without delay. Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, 56, is the second eldest son of the former Supreme Leader, reports the Mirror.
