Foreign Office updates safety advice for holiday destinations including Dubai

The UK Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for popular holiday destinations following American's military action against Iran.The government is recommending Brits do not travel to Israel or Palestine, and is advising people already in destinations such as Dubai, Bahrain and Kuwait to seek shelter.The updated advice comes as the US carries out what President Donald Trump describes as ongoing "major combat operations" and called for Iranian government forces to lay down their arms. Iran has retaliated with missile attacks on US bases in the Middle East. Airlines have responded to the military action by cancelling all flights to a number of countries in the region.In a statement on its website the Foreign Office said: "Due to the threat posed by escalation in the region, we recommend against all travel to Israel and Palestine. On 28 February 2026, the US and Israel commenced joint military action in Iran, Israeli airspace has now closed."The Foreign Office has also updated its advice for British citizens currently in destinations including Dubai, Bahrain and Kuwait. The advice is: "Remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities."
