Camogie Association commits to more clarity on venues
The Camogie Association has pledged to implement additional guidelines with regard to potential venue changes in the future.
This follows a review of last weekend's Clare-Wexford fixture in the Centra Camogie Leagues, following criticism of the playing surface after the game was moved to Meelick.
Originally scheduled for Clareabbey in Clare, the Division 1B encounter was switched at late notice to the new venue.
Following heavy rain, over a prolonged period, many pitches in Ireland have struggled with excess surface water.
The replacement venue was no different, with heavy underfoot conditions, particularly around one of the goalmouths.
The Camogie Association says that it will now provide firmer timelines and clearer procedures for venue selection and venue changes.
This is likely to involve earlier deadlines for any potential match venue switch.
"The Camogie Association has completed its review of the Clare-Wexford fixture in the Centra Camogie League," a statement read.
"The Camogie Association is committed to continuous improvement, with player welfare always at the forefront of any decision making."
