Mark Consuelos Admits He’s “Often Thought About” Whether It’s OK To Have Sex In Front Of Your Dog

Should you have sex in front of your dog? Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos tackled this question on Friday’s Live with Kelly and Mark.
According to an article Ripa shared during this morning’s episode, “it’s not cut and dry.” While she read that “for most dogs, it doesn’t matter,” there are also “some behaviors that signal a dog should not be present.”
“If you see your dog smoking a cigarette after you have sex,” she joked, “you’re encouraging smoking in dogs.”
All jokes aside, Ripa read that “sometimes a dog will try to intervene.”
Consuelos offered up, “They get jealous? Protective?”
Ripa echoed, “Protective? They’re not sure what’s going on?”
She also told viewers that their dog, Lena, “gets in the middle” of her and Consuelos when they hug each other.
“There’s also dogs that will get very distressed because of the sounds that are being made,” she quipped.
Consuelos teased, “Explain to our dog Lena, ‘When mommies and daddies love each other…'”
Ripa added that dogs “may interpret some of those sounds as aggression” or as “something happening to you,” and that “it’s not fair to have a dog in the room” if that is the case.
Consuelos noted that “it traumatizes them,” before jokingly asking Ripa, “Would you still like to be in the room when that’s going on or would you like to be outside the room?”

“Are you traumatized?” he continued. “Luckily we have Lena on the phone, we’re going to talk to Lena.”
Consuelos eventually admitted that he’s “often thought about” the question of whether or not you should have sex in front of your dog, but ultimately didn’t feel like a dog in the room would deter him.
“Yeah, but I don’t care,” he revealed. “It’s not like we’re going to stop everything and move the dog. It ruins the moment.”
Ripa replied with a laugh, “Ok…”
