‘Done with working with Indians’: Techie’s migration post on Reddit sparks IT debate
A tech professional with two decades of experience has sparked debate online after expressing deep frustration with India’s IT work culture and exploring migration to lesser-known countries. In a Reddit post, the techie wrote about feeling drained by colleagues and workplace dynamics in cities such as Bengaluru and Mumbai. The post openly criticised what the writer described as a rigid and unhealthy work mentality.“I am done with working with Indians. Yes, the writing is on the wall,” the caption of the post reads.“The mentality of Indians who are just not ready to adjust, work without cutting corners, and finally get sadistic pleasure by making others miserable is draining me out,” the techie adds. The post describes long hours, traffic congestion and what the writer calls “bad vibes” in major Indian IT hubs. According to the techie, these factors have made continuing in the sector increasingly difficult.“I feel that even a job in Kenya would be better than working in Bangalore/Mumbai, etc., with loads of traffic, bad vibes, and so on,” the techie adds. The writer said they were not considering migration to popular destinations such as the United States, Canada, Australia or Europe, claiming these countries are already crowded with Indian professionals.“I am not interested in migrating to countries like USA, Canada, Auz, Europe since it's filled with Indians waiting to make a living there,” the post states.Instead, the techie asked for suggestions on lesser-known countries that may need IT professionals. According to the post, moving to such locations could help build teams and capabilities without constantly having to prove one’s worth.Internet weighs in“You got 20 yoe. Just consult. It's fine. Tech is the same everywhere,” wrote a user.“I am in Thailand. Perfect mix of eastern values and western culture. Easy to open a business here and lots and lots of options for different kinds of visa,” suggested another.“We all are sick of each other but the sad part is, no one is willing to change. The people who are complaining today will behave the same way when they achieve a higher position in management. Just look at our offshore folks, is it pleasant working with them? I don't see much difference. To move, I really don't think that you have a feasible option,” wrote another.(These claims have not been independently verified by Storyboard18)First Published on February 17, 2026, 12:10:50 IST
